On 30 and 31 July Douglas Bostock made his debut with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra in Japan, which immediately led to a re-invitation. On the programme were works by Sibelius, Smetana, Elgar and Walton.
20 – 25 August saw Douglas Bostock return to Slovenia to give conducting master classes in Portorose.
The Aargau Symphony Orchestra in Switzerland opened the 2011/12 Season in September in concerts with music by Glinka, Matsushita, Hovhaness and Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony, conducted by their Principal Conductor, Douglas Bostock.
At the end of September Douglas Bostock returned to the New Japan Philharmonic to conduct a highly acclaimed concert in Tama, Japan with music by Berlioz, Françaix and Brahms 1st Symphony.
Douglas Bostock directed a conducting master class in Porto, Portugal at the beginning of October and conducted a hugely successful concert with BSP in the Casa da Música, including works by Holst, Grainger, Schmitt and Milhaud.
“Grainger-Fest” was the title of the SBU’s concerts in Baden-Württemberg in October, directed by Douglas Bostock. Alongside music by Percy Grainger were premieres of compositions by Ito and Matsushita.
From 1st April 2012 Douglas Bostock will take up the position of Guest Professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai). |
