March saw Douglas Bostock conducting sold-out concerts including
the European Premiere of Matsushita¡¯s ¡°Dharani¡± Symphony and
Beethoven¡¯s Symphony No. 9 in Basel and elsewhere in Switzerland
1 as well as a monumental performance of Carmina Burana in
Ulm, Germany, aquitted with standing ovations.

On 1 April,
Douglas Bostock was appointed Visiting Professor at Japan¡¯s
Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.

Douglas
Bostock¡¯s first appearance with the North Czech Philharmonic in
April (Dvoř¨¢k, Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Martinů) was highly
acclaimed by the orchestra and audience alike.
The Granada
Symphony Orchestra in Spain performed for the first time under
Douglas Bostock¡¯s direction both in the final round of the Ja¨¦n
Internation Piano Competition and in a subscription concert in
Granada¡¯s Palace of Congress (Schubert. Liszt, Dvoř¨¢k) in May.
The concerts were received with great enthusiasm.

The Aargau
Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Douglas Bostock, gave six
successful performances of a colourful programme of music by
Smetana, Delibes, Prokofiev and Dukas in Switzerland in May.

Douglas
Bostock was joined by the Wihan Quartett in the May subscription
concerts of the Czech Chamber Philharmonic in works by Elgar and
Martinů. The orchestra¡¯s Principal Guest Conductor, he also
directed music by Vaughan Williams and Beethoven¡¯s Pastoral
Symphony in their 40th season.
