Return as Honorary Conductor
Douglas Bostock returned to conduct the Argovia Philharmonic in Switzerland for the first time after stepping down as Principal Conductor in the summer of 2019, at which time he was appointed as the orchestra's Honorary Conductor. It was a warm and emotional reunion in a programme consisting of Vaughan Williams' overture "The Wasps", Mozart's D minor Piano Concerto (with the wonderful Louis Schwitzgebel) and 100th anniversary performances of Nielsen's 5th Symphony. Two of the three concerts were held in the Alte Reithalle concert hall, which Douglas helped realise during his tenure as Principal Conductor. The Aargau public gave him an enthusiastic welcome back to the podium. A triumph for conductor and orchestra, as the press confirmed.
