South Korea and Surgery
Douglas Bostock paid his first ever visit to South Korea in August in order to perform at the Festival (JIWEF) on the Jeju island. The soloist was the legendary Steven Mead in Philip Sparke's "Omaggio" Euphonium Concerto. On returning to Europe Douglas underwent surgery in Zurich and received a right knee prosthesis, an operation which had been planned long in advance. After a rehabilitation period in Lucerne he was back on his feet, albeit with crutches, teaching a masterclass at the academy in Staufen, Germany, before departing for Japan.
