Returning to Porto

Douglas Bostock returned to one of his favourite cities, Porto in North Portugal, twice in three weeks in September and October, each time to teach conducting masterclasses in collaboration with Porto's Music University (ESMAE) and to conduct ensembles from the Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa in sensational programmes with music by Stravinsky, Weill, Rodrigo, Milhaud and others in the Casa da Música. Soloists were the brilliant Luis Duarte Moreira in the European premiere of Nelhybel's Concerto for Horn and 16 Instruments, and the phenomenal Vaso Dantas in Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue". The sold-out concerts (considering Corona distancing) were rapturously received.
