Farewell to the Argovia Phil

After 18 years as Principal Conductor of the Argovia Philharmonic iDouglas Bostock took his leave of the orchestra and the many concert goers in emotional concerts in Switzerland and Germany. Concluding a season dedicated to British music, Douglas Bostock chose a programme based on the Last Night of the Proms as his musical goodbye. A packed audience, many in attire associated with the Last Night, savoured the party atmosphere, supported by culinary treats from the the British Isles, at the concert in Wettingen on 28th June. Fond farewells were said, assured that one would meet again.

On this auspicious occasion Douglas Bostock was made the orchestra's Honorary Conductor by its President, Dr. Jürg Schärer.

A week later, on 5th July, on the Isle of Reichenau in Germany, where Douglas Bostock resides, the programme was repeated open-air to an enthusiastic audience, which - like the one in Switzerland - joined in the fun and made for a memorable evening. Thus, a rich and rewarding era comes to an happy end.
