Debut in Poland with Krakow Phil
At the invitation of the renowned Krakow Philharmonic, Douglas Bostock gave his debut in Poland with concerts on 24 and 25 March 2017. Three works from the years 1915/16 made up the unusual programme, which he had devised for the occasion: Elgar's "Polonia" and Nielsen's 4th Symphony "The Inextinguishable" (both of which he has recorded) and Szyamowski's brilliant 1st Violin Concerto with the superb Polish soloist, Janusz Wawrowski. An unexpected portrait of Sir Thomas Beecham on the wall of the conductor's room kept Maestro company and amused during the week.
